Odyssey: Trauma Instead of Heroism, Realism Instead of Myth, Humanism Instead of Gods

In Nolan's Odyssey, we do not get a hero who is at the mercy of the whims of the Olympian gods, or squeezed between the arbitrary interests of mythological creatures living on earth. Instead, we are presented with a humanist idol, whose mental struggles are more prominent than any supernatural factor. A work has been born that is anti-war, more Nordic than Greek in atmosphere, and stripped of mythical elements. However, film criticism alone is not enough to solve this problem; we must also examine the higher-level connections of language and culture.
